Our client is a leading earthworks contractor specialising in large-scale excavation, grading, and earthmoving projects. With a reputation for delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions, they serve a diverse range of clients in various sectors. As they continue to expand their operations, they are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Graduate Quantity Surveyor to support their team in accurately assessing project costs and quantities.

The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in assisting with quantity measurement, cost estimation, and contractual documentation for earthworks projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in construction quantity surveying to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior surveyors and project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities – Graduate Quantity Surveyor

• Assist in the measurement and quantification of earthworks volumes, including excavation, filling, and grading activities, using appropriate surveying techniques and software tools.
• Conduct site visits to verify quantities, assess site conditions, and gather relevant data for accurate quantity take-offs and measurements.
• Support senior surveyors in preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets for bulk earthworks projects, incorporating material costs, equipment usage, labour expenses, and subcontractor quotations.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to project budgets.
• Assist in the preparation and review of contractual documentation, including bills of quantities, tender documents, and subcontract agreements, in compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of project variations, change orders, and cost adjustments, and ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to provide ongoing support and assistance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on cost control, value engineering, and risk management strategies.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of quantity surveying processes and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications – Graduate Quantity Surveyor

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, CostX) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
