Ports Analyst
My client is an international leading steel company, with global ports, and primary steelmaking facilities in various countries. Their purpose is to produce smarter steels that have a positive benefit for people and the planet. Their steels have been made using innovative processes which use less energy, emit significantly less carbon, and reduce costs.
Due to company growth, they are now looking for a ports analyst to play a critical role in providing valuable insights and recommendations to optimise efficiency, capacity, and overall performance of the port.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect and analyse data from each port for cargo handling and vessel turn-arounds.
- Analyse various aspects of port operations and logistics to provide insights and recommendations.
- Helping port authorities and stakeholders make informed decisions to enhance operations and stay competitive in the maritime industry.
- Compare collected data against performance benchmarks.
- Prepare analysis reports, looking out for any recurring trends.
- Oversee company efficiency and productivity, comparing that to KPIs.
- Financial – tracking revenue, budget management, expense trends.
- Undertake risk assessments, identifying any risks and producing solutions.
- Staying up to date with laws and compliances within port operations.
- Creating reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
- Maintaining softwares and databases.
Requirements
- MBA in Shipping.
- Flexibility to travel, international travel to ports is required once a month.
- Strong technical skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- 6-8 years in port experience is desirable.
