Transport Planner
Our client, one of the UK’s leading transport and logistics businesses based in Avonmouth, is currently celebrating continued growth and is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their dynamic team.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Transport Planner will play a key role in organizing the daily routing of vehicles, prioritizing workloads, and briefing/de-briefing drivers on their daily duties. This position also involves pre-planning work for loading allocations. The ideal candidate will be IT-literate with experience in traffic management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and route vehicles on a daily basis.
- Optimize revenue to ensure fleet profitability and meet targets.
- Communicate effectively with customers and subcontractors via phone and email.
- Conduct daily driver checks to ensure compliance.
- Ensure drivers adhere to hours, RTD (working time), and tachograph regulations.
- Approve drivers’ timesheets on a weekly basis.
- Manage driver holidays to ensure customer needs are consistently met.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in transport operations is essential.
- Strong geographical knowledge to maximize vehicle profitability.
- Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of the transport market.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- A solid commercial understanding of the general haulage industry.
- A Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and ADR awareness are desirable.
Remuneration:
- Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience)
- Annual performance bonus scheme
- Eligibility for company car scheme after 12 months of service
- Monday – Friday, rotating shift pattern: Week 1: 06:00 – 16:00, Week 2: 07:00 – 17:00, Week 3: 09:00 – 19:00, plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
- 30 days of holiday, including bank holidays
